Location
Campus
NWERC 2025 will be held at KIT Campus South. We will be using both the cafeteria (building 01.13) and the Audimax (building 30.95) for different parts of the contest weekend. An interactive campus map is available here.
Karlsruhe has a great public transportation system, and you can easily reach the campus by both public transport and bike.
By Tram/Light Rail
Take tram lines 1, 2, 3, or 4 or light rail lines S2, S4, S5, S51, S7, or S8 to the stop Durlacher Tor/KIT-Campus Süd. From there, it is a short five-minute walk to the contest area.
Tickets can be bought using the KVV app.
The tram lines 2 and 3 and light rail lines S4, S7 and S8 also stop at the main railway station.
By Bike
Karlsruhe is a bike-friendly city with an extensive network of bicycle paths. If your accommodation is nearby, you can easily reach the campus by bike.
There are numerous bike racks available on campus for parking your bicycle. Rental bikes are available from KVV.nextbike.
Travel
Karlsruhe is well-connected to the rest of Northwestern Europe, making it easy for you to travel to NWERC 2025. You can reach Karlsruhe by train, bus, car or plane.
By Train
Karlsruhe's main railway station, Karlsruhe Hauptbahnhof, is easily reachable by train for example from the following cities:
- major cities in Germany such as Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, and Hamburg
- major cities in the Benelux countries (via Frankfurt or Cologne), around 4-5 hours
- Copenhagen (via Hamburg), around 8 hours
Night trains to Karlsruhe are also available on some routes, such as from Amsterdam and Copenhagen.
Use the Deutsche Bahn website or app for up-to-date schedules, prices, and booking options. It is also advisable to book as early as possible for cheaper fares. Group discounts are usually available for groups of six or more travellers.
By Bus
Several long-distance bus companies, such as Flixbus, offer routes to Karlsruhe from various cities across Europe. These buses usually stop at the Karlsruhe Central Bus Station, which is located next to the main railway station.
By Car
Karlsruhe is easily accessible by car, with several major highways connecting the city to the rest of Germany and Europe. The A5 highway runs north-south, connecting Karlsruhe to Frankfurt and Basel, while the A8 highway runs east-west, linking the city to Stuttgart and Munich.
By Air
The closest airport to Karlsruhe is the Baden Airpark (FKB), which is located approximately 40 km south of the city. The airport is mainly served by low-cost carriers and offers some international connections. You can reach Karlsruhe's main railway station using public transport, which takes around an hour.
Frankfurt Airport (FRA) is the largest airport in Germany with a wide range of international connections. From Frankfurt Airport, you can take a direct ICE train to Karlsruhe, which takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

There are several accommodation options near KIT Campus South, including hotels, hostels, apartments, and possibly on-campus sleeping.
